Red Notice Starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds Premieres Worldwide November 12th on Netflix

“Red Alert!” You’re on notice that the action-thriller Red Notice starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds will be premiering worldwide on Netflix on November 12th. The Rock made the announcement over his social media communicating his enthusiasm at sharing his first-ever streaming movie with the already built-in global Netflix audience of 205 million + Netflix subscribers. According to Deadline, the story of Red Notice will find The Rock playing the FBI’s top profiler as he hunts down two rival criminals. Gal Gadot will play the world’s most wanted art thief and her opponent, the greatest conman the world has never seen will be played by Ryan Reynolds.

Universal and Legendary Pictures originally acquired the rights to the picture in an intense bidding war, The Rock raking in a cool 20 million dollar paycheck in a deal worth $130 million overall. However, after crunching the numbers, Universal realized the project was too expensive for them which led to Netflix swooping in, the streaming service having proved time and again money is no object for them with them recently acquiring the rights to Rian Johnson’s Knives Out 2 and 3 starring Daniel Craig for $400 million. Rawson-Marshall Thurber, director of Central Intelligence and Skyscraper both also starring The Rock, is behind the camera of this blockbuster as well and in addition crafted the screenplay.

I found Central Intelligence and Skyscraper while not to be perfect films to be massively entertaining and thrilling nonetheless. I’m sure Thurber’s cinematic storytelling sensibilities paired with the what is sure to be an electric chemistry between the film’s three A-list stars in The Rock, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds will make this Netflix film a top-tier experience more along the lines of a Triple Frontier (Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac), then a more middling mediocre Netflix release. The Rock describes the story as a globe-trotting adventure on his Instagram, and with a setting in the world of Interpol and international criminals, Red Notice has so much potential to not only do crazy numbers for Netflix but be a high-quality story with crackling dialogue, charismatic chemistry between its leads, and stylish action. So you’re on notice, Red Notice is streaming worldwide on Netflix on November 12th!
