Jason Segel to Star in Netflix’s Hitchcockian Thriller “Windfall” Penned by Seven Scribe Andrew Kevin Walker

Imagine you arrive at your sunny beautiful vacation home...  only to find it being robbed. How would you respond? Well, apparently Jason Segel and Lily Collins will find out in Netflix’s newly acquired “Windfall” described as a Hitchcockian thriller to be penned by Justin Lader and Andrew Kevin Walker (Seven). Filming wrapped earlier this year and Netflix’s acquisition came in the form of a major 8-figure deal.

Jesse Plemons will also star alongside Segel and Collins in the picture. Plemons was recently in Game Night where he played a creepy cop neighbor that was at odds with Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams. His sense of comic timing and dramatic theatrics will play well in a thriller like this and with it being described as a Hitchcockian thriller it will be fascinating to see just how suspenseful the film will be building off its pulse-pounding premise. Jason Segel of course is well-known from his time as Marshall on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother but he has done plenty of dramatic work so it will be interesting to see how he pairs off against Plemons in this thriller which while it seems to be focused on suspense and mystery will have a degree of levity to it that Collins who will play Segel’s wife will help provide amidst the desperate circumstances the young couple will find themselves in.

Alfred Hitchcock is remembered by history for being the “master of suspense” so if his legacy serves as the basis of inspiration for the tone of the film along with some comedic elements being brought forth by dynamic performers in Segel, Collins, and Clemons in addition to Seven scribe Andrew Kevin Walker providing a haunting and ominous suspenseful tone in the vein of the Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman film Seven, then “Windfall” certainly could be a top-tier Netflix release more along the lines of Triple Frontier starring Ben Affleck and the upcoming Red Notice starting The Rock, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds than a lot of the mediocre Netflix Original movie releases that have found their way onto the streaming service in recent years.
